The Hive Has Moved

This blog has been fantastic, thanks to the hard work of Topher Welsh, but we’ve closed it down to make way for the new VideoHive Tumblog. You’ll still receive all the same VideoHive news, tutorials, and industry happenings, but now it’ll come in shorter, more regular Tumblr posts. If you sign up for your own Tumblr account, you can follow us, reblog us, and “like” your favorite posts – just like on Twitter.

In addition to the new blog format, there’s a new man in charge – Adrian Try. You may know Adrian from AudioTuts, but now he’s taking on the role of scouring the web for the most interesting and most relevant information to you!

We can’t wait to see you over on the new Tumblog!

Holiday Hiatus

We would like to announce that Inside the Hive will be taking a “holiday hiatus” over the festive season and will be back in 2010. The wait will definitely be worth it however as we’re going to be changing the format of all our blogs in the new year. This format change will still provide readers with industry news, reviews, and resources. But it will allow us to provide more focused content. You’re not gonna want to miss it! Meanwhile, site news and announcements will continue to be posted right here on the existing blog.

It’s Official: VideoHive and Rerendered Have Merged!

How to Create a “Follow Me” Link

The redesign brought with it, many new and exciting features. The ability to follow your favorite authors was one of the most widely accepted, and highly requested features that was recently introduced. When you visit an author’s page, you will find a button that will allow you to follow that author. Doing this notifies you and keeps you current with any new files this author releases.

Featured Author: Xandros

Everyone please join me in congratulating Xandros for being VideoHive’s featured author!

Xandros comes from Serbia and has been with VideoHive since July 2009.

Xandros, has only been with VideoHive for a few months, but he already has quite an impressive portfolio. Specializing in Stock Footage, Xandros has been pumping out tons of files one would expect to see in a commercial on TV, or in a film on the big screen. Equipped with a Red One, and some other fantastic equipment, his portfolio is filled with larger than life shots, and some brilliant high frame rate shots making for perfect super slow motion footage! This is one author you SHOULD be following!

Here are a few stand out files. But be sure to check out Xandros’ full portfolio!

Get Involved With The New FlashDen Competition

Guys, Lance over and FlashDen has just published information regarding the Den’s newest competition. It’s a two part competition, with the first half involving mostly authors outside of FD. It calls upon VideoHive, AudioJungle, and GraphicRiver authors to submit files as assets.

The one requirement for these assets is that they need to be musically themed. Any music is sufficient. While full details regarding part two have yet to be released. I can only speculate that the second part will involve some sort of Flash file built around music with some integration of these assets.

There is $333 up for grabs to the winning author, so now might be a great time to get involved! Follow the link below for more information, and some examples of videos that would be acceptable.

By Popular Demand: The Resale License

We have been getting a LOT of requests from buyers wanting a license to use files in products for resale, so we’ve made one!

The license is called the Single Use Conditional Resale Permitted License ["Conditional Resale"]. You can read about it here:

http://flashden.net/legal/licences

Right now every author is automatically opted-out, so you will need to opt in if you wish to sell your files under this licence (see instructions below).

The Conditional Resale license allows a file to be used in an item for resale, and it’s priced at 50 times the cost of a standard single use license.

So for instance, you could buy this license if you wanted to:

1. Put a GraphicRiver graphic on a t-shirt for sale in a store.
2. Put a FlashDen preloader into a Flash theme for sale.
3. Put a VideoHive video and an AudioJungle loop into software that would allow people to make their own custom video with music.
4. Put a ThemeForest theme into software that would allow people to create intranets.

How Do I Opt-In?

If you wish to offer your file under this license, all you need to do is:
1. Go to your Account page.
2. Go the the Edit tab.
3. Click on Item Licenses.
4. Click the boxes next to the license name to opt-in.
5. Press Save!

If you have any questions support will be happy to answer them!
