Okay, done? Good Now we can get down to business. Now as for you, significant other, whatever your name may be… you want to get your video geek of a love interest something really good for Christmas, but you aren’t a nerd yourself. Hmmm how to think like a nerd… it’s hard trust me, you aren’t alone (I am partially writing this so my wife gets some clues as well). I am going to show you some of the cooler gadgets, tools, and overall gear that you probably would never think about getting as a Christmas gift, but are actually pretty rad. Harry Frank’s lack of tutorials lately on the After Effects scene comes with a damn good excuse: Video Rock. His newest product is a huge packet of 200 graphic elements, stills and movies alike that help to give your productions that 80’s & 90’s flair. This is chuck full of “hand-drawn” looking animations, glints, lightning bolts, clouds and everything that you see when you watch those shows from the era when motion graphics, and titles had that retro-esque look about them that we all seem to love.
I am continually trying to pimp out my home office, in any which way I can (when my bank account permits), and there are just so many cool accents and gadgets that you can get nowadays to either bump up productivity, or possibly lessen it, but overall make your working environment a little more enjoyable. In this monthly Awesomeness for the Officeness series I will be showcasing some of the awesome stuff I find throughout the net, and stuff that you guys send me to spread the word to other fellow office nerds to decorate our sanctuaries.
So Digieffects have had a few new products out this month, one which is quite a useful tool in working with still imagery and 3D space, and the other which can give you some nice looking old film effects, as if it were from the Super 8 era. Both of these plugins are quite useful in their own ways, and even better than that… we got some copies of them to give away to YOU!
