3DOcean is Accepting Beta Users!

Hot off the press from the pages of CGTuts+, one of our newest sister sites here on the Envato Network, is the news that our newest marketplace 3DOcean, is accepting Beta Users (Beta Invite at the bottom of this article) to create content to get the launch off right!  We all knew there was going to be a new marketplace around here sooner or later… but a lot of us didn’t know what the subject might be, but now it’s here!

3DOcean is going to be a place a lot like TurboSquid.com, Buy3DModels.com, or 3DExport.com, in which you can buy and sell pre-made models for your projects, or to make a little extra cash on the side.  These are going work just like VideoHive and the rest of the marketplaces work, letting you earn a commission on each sale, as well as make money on bringing new users to the site and getting a cut of their first deposits as well!

So, why am I reporting this on a blog that deal primarily in video production, and not so much in CG?  Well, you might be surprised in how many people use 3d, but also that those people don’t know every aspect of their apps of choice.  Since this is the case, this could be helpful for a gigantic range of people in the industry.  Say you know how to model, but you really are horrible at figuring out texturing and shading.  Well, the marketplace is going to have textures, shaders, materials, 3d print, 2d print concepts, models, and scenes available to buy so that you don’t have to fuss with learning those complex shading techniques or other stuff that doesn’t come naturally to you, or you just can’t seem to the get hang of.

Now for you that don’t know ANY 3d at all… this marketplace can really help you out a lot as well.  Yeah, you can buy the models and stuff, but what good is that for you?  Well, you forget… along with the marketplace comes another blog as well!  I am sure there are going to be tons of tutorials for you guys to dive into, and since there are a variety of apps, you will find something catered to your needs, whether it be matchmoving with Syntheyes, integrating 3d with live action or whatever… it is guaranteed to be great.  Not to mention news updates with the industry, featured files, monthly freebies, contests, giveaways… if you aren’t amped by now… I don’t know whats wrong with you.

Personally I think this is an absolute godsend, and I think that our network of marketplaces has needed something like this for a long while.  It’s another step in creating our arsenal of marketplaces catered to absolutely any niche in the industry.  Now all we need are photography, font, and application based marketplaces and we will be ready to take over the world!  So tell me what you guys think in the comments about this news and how you might be able to utilize its features, and also what you want to see in the site as well… the creators are bound to stumble across this article and get some feedback from you guys… you could be helping shape the creation of this new marketplace!
