Small Changes To Version & File Acceptance

Hello all, we have made a few small changes and I thought I would share them here. We have decided to pull two things down from the site for the time being.

After Effects CS4

We have made the decision to pull CS4 from the drop down of accepted project file versions. CS4 is still a bit too new in our opinion to have it as format we accept. This is only temporary and within a few months we will reassess the situation. When CS4 becomes more standard, we will re-implement it as an acceptable file format.

DVD Menus

This one was a bit tricky. We added it as an file type, but quickly realized that previewing it would be a bit difficult with our current system. If we can’t do something 100%, we shouldn’t be doing it at all. And just like CS4 files, this will eventually return. Once we have the time, and the means to fully support it, it will be re-activated.

So thats basically it. These two things have been temporarily removed. So by all means, feel free to continue developing for them, and when the announcement comes out in a few months that they have been reinstated you will have a nice nest egg of files to upload!

Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. That about wraps things up.

2009, Big % Increase & GraphicRiver Beta Invites

Looking back on last year, Envato had a pretty big 2008 by any measure. We jumped from 4 sites to 13, a million monthly visitors to 5 million, and while our team began the year numbering 12, we ended it totalling 55 talented reviewers, editors, managers, developers, writers and support staff. With such a crazy year in the rearview mirror, it is with no small excitement that I can say that 2009 is going to make 2008 pale in comparison. And today I’m here to make a huge announcement for all the authors of our marketplaces, give beta invites for a major new site, and give sneak previews for some of our Envato plans!

6 Project files you don’t want to miss!

With the separation of VideoHive, came the much anticipated Project Files section. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many great projects have been pouring in. And even happier to see the great reaction to these files in terms of sales and popularity. More great files are getting submitted daily. The list below features a few of the projects that really stand out.

  • Focal Media Pack

    Focal Media Pack

Featuring very simple text over textures with and clean transitions. With some very minimal effort, this can help achieve a sharp text sequence!

  • Advanced HD Graphics Title

    Advanced Graphic Title

This project belongs on broadcast. I imagine seeing this right before going to a commercial break. I’m sure you could find a ton more uses for it besides that one. Check it out!

  • Animated Green Strokes

    Animated Green Strokes

During this great title sequence, the green lines guide you on a path around the entire composition. Highlighting the text in a way that is not distracting, but keeps the file moving at a good pace.

  • Rotor

    Rotor

This one is nice and simple. Allowing you to display three key videos/images with text in a very short amount of time, with a huge impact.

    View File…

  • Spectrum

    Spectrum

Quite the impressive project here. This file provides multiple options for displaying content with text. The greatest part is each composition features a unique audio equalizer that actually reacts to whatever audio you throw at it!

    View File…

  • Logo Box 1

    Logo Box 1

This is the first file like this, and I hope not the last. It highlights basic methods for compositing content generated in 3D packages within After Effects. And if you’re not interested in learning, its a really quick may to make quite the impression.

Be sure to visit the Project Files section and check out all the goods VideoHive has to offer. Now that this section is up and rolling, I think it’s going to be pretty hard to keep it contained!

Important Notice About Payouts For Authors and Referrers

*Please read this additional post on the new maximum earnings feature for more information.
Important Clarification on the New Maximum Earnings Feature

Yesterday authors should have received an email informing them that there will be a change in payouts effective from the 1st of January 2008. The email notice said the following:

New earnings payment system
As of January 15th 2009, you will be provided with a new feature allowing you to automatically withdraw your final earnings balance for the month.

For example: If you select this option on January 16th, then a withdraw request will be automatically submitted for your total earnings balance up until January 31st at 11:59:59pm.

For those members who like to withdraw their maximum earning each month this tool will be extremely useful – no more missing the payment request cutoff by mistake!

The original withdraw system will also remain in place, allowing you to continue to withdraw specific amounts from your earnings balance.

New payment date
As of January 2009 all of the months earning payments will be issued on the 15th of following month *.
For example, all earning withdraw requests from January 1st to January 31st will be paid out on February 15th *.

  • December withdrawal request processed on 1st January
  • January withdrawal request processed on 15th February*
  • February withdrawal request processed on 15th March*

This new payment system will save authors time and will allow Envato to continue to make timely monthly payouts to a variety of account types. Thank you for your understanding while we make this transition and for your continued support.

——-
*If the 15th falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will be made on the following business day Australian Standard Time (no exceptions).

We apologize for any inconvenience while we make this transition to the new payout date. Recent site growth and increased incidences of attempted fraud have made it necessary to implement increased payment processing time. Please direct any questions, concerns or comments to this thread where they will be reviewed and answered by staff.

Again, thank you for your understanding and support.

100K Members Surprise Giveaway!

While I previously mentioned that the Envato marketplaces hit a combined total of 100,000 members on December 8, 2008, I failed to mention the surprise giveaway to the 100,000th registered member!

User MediumJones must have been pretty shocked when immediately after creating his account, he was granted with a gift of $250 for hitting that tremendous milestone.

Congratulations MediumJones! Have fun with your shopping spree. I wonder whats in store for 200K!

Happy Birthday VideoHive!

Hello all,

I think a short post is in order to mark the date that VideoHive went live. December 8, 2008 is the day VideoHive became a reality. I’d like to thank all of the current video authors for sticking with the video section. And welcome any future authors to our community.

We have a very friendly community of individuals that all reside on our, sometimes too addictive, forum. So if you’re new please feel free to come and join in on some conversations, ask questions, or just say hello!

December 8, 2008 is not only an important day for VideoHive. This is also the date that the Envato Marketplaces hit a combined total of 100,000 registered members.

So two big events within one day. VideoHive will continue to grow and Envato as a whole has some exciting stuff planned for the future.

That’s all for now. Happy birthday VideoHive and congradulations Envato!!
