Tut Tuesday! AE Quicktips #5 Changing Source Text
Have you ever had a text layer that has to be changing every few seconds or so? Does it get really annoying to have to trim your layers and replace it with a new one with a different set of letters? Well, in this very simple, yet very useful quick tip, we will explore changing the Source Text parameter in the pull down menu settings on your text layers in your comp. Using hold keyframes, you can set the Source Text to change over time, which in turn will lower your layer count and keep your projects more organized.
Also posted today, my buddy Aharon Rabinowitz has posted Score! Working with Numeric Text over at RedGiantTV.com which deals with this same technique, but adds some expressions into the mix, and takes it a bit further than you will find here. Remember to let me know what you think of our tutorials here on the site, and make sure to keep up with all the tutorials posted every week at VisualFXtuts.com.
