Market Your Files Using Adobe Exchange

Having your file up for sale is just one part to a successful stock video side business. Like any other business, stock files benefit from marketing and exposure. A good rule of thumb, the more people that see your files, the better chances you have at generating sales.

Adobe has a system in place on their site they call the Adobe Exchange. It’s basically a marketplace where authors using Adobe software can go and share or sell their work. This includes templates, stock video, components, extensions, add-ons, plug-ins, etc. The great thing about the Exchange is you don’t have to sell directly through their site. You can link from their site to your VideoHive portfolio & VideoHive files. Essentially you are providing the Exchange with all of your file’s information, and they list it for everyone to see. If interested, a person can click to buy, and they are re-directed to VideoHive.

The kicker here, is that you will not only benefit from the additional exposure and potentially higher sales. But you can also take advantage of the referral program that VideoHive offers.

Below are some basic instructions on how to submit your files to the Adobe Exchange, and I also include instructions on how to make sure your referral links get added so you maximize your earning potential. Lets get started.

  1. Visit the Adobe Exchange and create an account.
  2. Click “Upload to the Exchange” on the right sidebar.
  3. Click “Begin Upload Process” button.
  4. For the upload type field choose “After Effects Content”, and after reading the terms check the I agree field and then click next.
  5. You will presented with two options. You can either upload a file, or enter a download link. Since we are trying to promote files for sale on VideoHive, your going to use the “enter a download link”. This part is especially important. While we are trying to help build traffic through to our files, there is an additional way to make money using this method and that’s through referrals. By adding the text ?ref=UserName after any link to Videohive or any other Envato marketplace, you will also receive referral money on any and all people that sign up and deposit using your link. So in the field provide the link to your item and remember to add ?ref=UserName (replace UserName with your user name) at the end of the link.
  6. Then upload a preview image that is 300×200 pixels.
  7. The “General Information” section is pretty straight forward. Just make sure to fill in each field with detailed and accurate information.
  8. Under “Pricing and Licensing” you will need to choose “Commercial”, provide the file’s URL again (dont forget your referral link), and the price that it is selling for on VideoHive.
  9. And finally under the Categorization section you will need to accurately select the most appropriate category your item should fall under. For the most part, anything in VideoHive’s Stock Footage/Motion Graphics sections will be considered “Stock Footage” on Adobe Exchange. And anything in VideoHive’s Project Files section will fall under “Project Templates” on Adobe Exchange.
  10. Finally click “Next”.

Your file will then be submitted and will appear on the exchange after being reviewed. It does take some time to get approved, so be patient. But once up, the Exchange just serves as another place your files can be found. It’s a time consuming process for each file, but it can really pay off in the end. Plus if you make it a routine to submit it to the Exchange whenever you upload a new file to VideoHive, it wont be so cumbersome.
